Verified Purchase. This book gives you enough information so you can navigate around and generally get the answer you are looking for without a lot of hunting. The visuals are well drawn and extremely helpful — they remind me of cartoons that keep you interested but not distracted. I have always been a fan of the Teach Yourself Visually book series.

I always recommend the series to my friends who are looking for a technical book. The books are in full color and easy to understand with step by step instructions. Access is everything I was looking for in a quick reference. As I have stated in Access review, this book is wonderful and has all pictures that will help you if you learn it at same time when you are on the program!

I have not had a chance to use the book yet. I did read thru it and it appears to be useful. As still somewhat of a novice, I found the cartoons took up way too much space and are extremely distracting.

Also the color arrows are sometimes too close to similar colors. The actual material you are trying to locate and understand needs to be much larger and readable. While I understand you can match the page with your computer screen, I found it aggravating to have to do so in order to read what is in each window. My reason for buying it was so I didn’t have to spend so much time finding what was referenced.

I have heard these same complaint from many students new to computers we are in our 30’s and 40’s I have recommended it somewhat, with explanations of above flaws. I could be greatly simplified with less cartoons, larger window images. Also practice sheets to apply to what you are learning. I guess it all depends on who your target demographic is.

Experienced users looking for updates on wouldn’t care, they already know where everything is I was disappointed. I had a version of this book. The authors have made a great deal of progress in the presentation of the information. I had just basic knowledge, this really helps when I am stuck in the middle of a database, it helps me to figure out what I need to do next or how to fix something.

I was expecting to find more than the basics of excel. After looking through this for about 10 minutes I knew this was going to be returned. One person found this helpful. See all reviews. I liked this product because it is very easy to read and use. I find it very useful when training groups. Similar products get into so much detail without the visual aspect and this is where I tend to lose interest. The visual step by step instructions gets the job done.

An excellant book, I learned Access, way back when it first came out, but when I went to use Access , it was like using something I had never used before, so now armed with my new book, clear pictures of what’s what, I am off again!
